Terms of Service for CampusShelf

Last Updated: February 24, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to CampusShelf. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website campus-shelf.com and our mobile services.

CampusShelf is a service operated by Love Digital Technology, a company registered under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. By accessing our platform, purchasing products, or using our trade-in services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our Services.

2. Eligibility

To use CampusShelf, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age (or have the consent of a parent/guardian).
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information.
  • Use the services in compliance with all applicable Nigerian laws.

3. Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account login details. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Love Digital Technology will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.

4. Products and Pricing

A. Product Descriptions

  • New Books: These are sourced directly from publishers or authorized distributors and are in mint condition.
  • Used Books: These are pre-owned items. While we verify quality, they may contain limited highlighting, notes, or wear. By purchasing a used book, you accept these conditions.

B. Pricing

Prices for textbooks and materials are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to modify prices based on market supply and publisher rates.

5. Orders and Payment

  • Online Payment: We process payments securely via Paystack. You can pay using Debit Card, Bank Transfer, or USSD.
  • Payment Security: CampusShelf does not store your card details. All transactions are encrypted and processed by our regulated payment partners.
  • Cancellation by CampusShelf: We reserve the right to cancel any order if the product is out of stock or if we suspect fraud. In such cases, a full 100% refund will be issued to the original payment method.
  • Cancellation by User (Change of Mind): If you request to cancel your order after payment has been successfully processed, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from your total refund. This fee covers non-refundable charges levied by our payment gateway.

6. Delivery Policy

  • Locations: We deliver to Hostels/Faculties (UNILAG), Immediate Environs (Akoka/Onike), and general Lagos addresses.
  • Timelines: "Same-Day Delivery" applies to orders placed before our specified cutoff time (e.g., 12:00 PM). Orders placed later will be delivered the next business day.
  • Failed Delivery: If our runner arrives at your location and you are unreachable via phone for more than 10 minutes, the order will be returned. A re-delivery fee will apply.

7. Trade-In Policy (Selling Your Books)

CampusShelf allows users to sell used textbooks through our platform. By submitting a book for Trade-In, you agree to the following:

A. Consignment vs. Direct Purchase

  • Consignment (Standard Model): Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all accepted trade-ins are processed on a consignment basis. This means CampusShelf lists the book on your behalf. You will receive payment only after the book has been successfully purchased by a third-party buyer and the return window has closed. Submission of a book does not guarantee immediate payment.
  • Direct Purchase (Exception): In select cases, CampusShelf may offer to buy high-demand books from you directly for immediate cash. This offer will be clearly labeled as a "Direct Purchase." If not labeled, the transaction is a Consignment.

B. Condition & Acceptance

  • We do not accept books with missing pages, water damage, broken spines, or excessive writing that obscures the text.
  • We reserve the right to reject any book upon physical inspection, even if a preliminary quote was given online. If rejected, you may choose to have the book returned to you (at your expense) or recycled.

C. Valuation & Payouts

  • The trade-in price is determined by CampusShelf based on market demand.
  • For Consignment items, funds will be credited to your provided bank account within a specified timeframe (e.g., 24-48 hours) of the completed sale.

D. Ownership Transfer & Legal Declarations

  • Proof of Ownership: By listing or submitting an item, you represent and warrant that you are the sole and lawful owner of the item and have the absolute legal right to transfer ownership.
  • Zero Tolerance for Stolen Property: CampusShelf strictly prohibits the sale of stolen goods. If we suspect or discover that an item submitted by you is stolen, we reserve the right to confiscate the item, permanently ban your account, withhold any pending payouts, and hand over your details to University Security or local Law Enforcement.
  • Irrevocable Transfer of Ownership: Once an item is submitted to us, verified, and a payout is queued or completed, ownership is permanently transferred. You relinquish all rights to the item and cannot request it back, recall it, or cancel the trade-in under any circumstances.

8. Special Book Requests

If you use our "Request a Book" feature to ask for a title not currently in stock:

  • Availability: A request does not guarantee that we will be able to source the item. We will make reasonable efforts to find it for you.
  • Pricing: Any estimated price given at the time of the request is provisional. The final price may vary based on sourcing costs. We will confirm the final price with you before processing the order.
  • Commitment: You are not obligated to purchase a requested book until you approve the final price and condition.

9. Returns and Refunds

  • Defective Items: If you receive a wrong book or a book with manufacturing defects (e.g., blank pages), you must notify us within 24 hours of delivery. We will replace it free of charge.
  • Change of Mind: Due to the nature of academic materials, we generally do not accept returns if you simply change your mind or drop the course. Exceptions may be made at our discretion, subject to a restocking fee.

10. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any illegal purpose.
  • Attempt to sell stolen, counterfeit, or pirated (photocopied) textbooks on our Trade-In platform.
  • Interfere with the security or proper functioning of the website.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, Love Digital Technology shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to academic performance or missed exams due to delayed delivery.

12. Indemnification

You agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CampusShelf, Love Digital Technology, its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, lawsuits, damages, losses, liabilities, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms. This explicitly includes, but is not limited to, any claims or legal actions brought against CampusShelf regarding the sale of stolen, counterfeit, or pirated property submitted by you.

13. Intellectual Property

All content on this site (logos, text, graphics, code) is the property of Love Digital Technology or its licensors. The name "CampusShelf" and our logos are trademarks and may not be used without permission.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through amicable negotiation or, failing that, the courts of Lagos State.
